More than half of our attorneys have served in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Firmwide, we have hundreds of years of inside-the-USPTO experience. Our team includes many former patent examiners and includes a former Chief Judge and Vice Chief Judge of the Patent Trial and Appeals Board. Our attorneys regularly appear before the PTAB and TTAB, handling examiner interviews, IPR’s, Appeals and interferences, as prominent examples. As a result, we provide well-rounded strategic counsel and can anticipate and avoid potential pitfalls.

We have extensive litigation experience in the U.S. District Courts, having been litigating patent, trademark and other IP matters in federal courts around the United States since 1981. In patents. Our experience includes litigating in technologies as diverse as telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, medical imaging devices, and pool cleaning equipment, just to name a few; as well as trademark and trade secret matters. Our attorneys regularly appear in district courts from coast-to-coast on behalf of our domestic and international clients.

We have been counselling clients worldwide since our inception on transactional matters, including M&A, licensing, infringement, validity, and other IP-related business issues. We have served as lead IP counsel and as diligence and negotiation counsel for billions of dollars in transactions, and regularly advise both in-house IP counsel and company executives on business strategies relating to IP.

We Speak Your Language. G&B represents numerous clients around the globe. Our attorneys travel frequently to counsel clients around the United States and throughout Europe and Asia on their U.S. intellectual property needs. With a multi-lingual team that includes attorneys and staff fluent in English, Japanese, Korean, German, Chinese, and French, we can advise our clients on legal and technical matters in their own native language. Our attorneys also offer training and seminars on topics such as U.S. negotiation styles and legal procedure to help our international clients work more effectively in the U.S. market.

For more than 40 years, we have represented Fortune 500 and other global companies in fintech, automotive, and other electrical and computer technologies. We have prepared, prosecuted, and defended applications resulting in hundreds of millions in revenue and assisted clients in obtaining numerous standard-essential patents.

G&B is internationally recognized for its strength in the pharmaceutical space. We have also represented numerous pharma clients in Hatch-Waxman litigation. On the generic side, G&B represents ANDA and 505(b)(2) applicants through all stages from assessment of prospective products through litigation. From initial strategies, to ANDA/505(b)(2) filing and notice, and on through litigation (or settlement), trial, and appeal, G&B’s attorneys are experienced in all aspects of Hatch-Waxman litigation. Some recent products that G&B assisted our generic clients with include apremilast (Otezla®), vortioxetine (Trintellix®), apixaban (Eliquis®), aripiprazole (Abilify®), linagliptin (Tradjenta®), linagliptin+metformin (Jentadueto®), and vilazodone (Viibryd®). G&B represents generic companies around the world, and regularly visits clients in India, Europe, and other countries.

Our firm is also recognized for the strength of our biotechnology patent practice. Our biotech team includes members with extensive technical experience, many of whom have conducted Ph.D. and post-doctoral research in biotech. Our team counsels clients who are innovating at the forefront of biotechnology, including genetic engineering and the development of biosimilars for approved medicines. We offer strategic counseling and customized services on portfolio development, design-around strategies and more, all of which are grounded in the latest legal and market trends.

Just as our clients are innovators in their fields, our firm is committed to innovation in the delivery of legal services. Notably, G&B has invested in the development of its own proprietary, patented technology to manage our clients’ patent and trademark portfolios. We also regularly use this tool to facilitate efficient client communication, calendaring, status reporting, and billing in the fast-paced world of patent prosecution. We developed client management and communication systems in-house and we have dedicated programmers on staff who routinely customize applications to meet our clients’ individual needs and demands.
